There are many great organizations, websites and books for gifted adults. While many people think of gifted children, adults can also be intellectually and/or artistically gifted. Many adults who are gifted were never recognized as such when they were children. As a matter of fact, they may even have been labeled a problem child. While attending gifted school is not right for every child, there are some cases where it is an ideal solution. A gifted child is one who has taken a standardized test and been designated as gifted due to their test results. Testing is usually done between ages four and eight. There are different levels of giftedness based on test results, from mildly gifted to profoundly gifted. If you are a parent of a gifted child or a child you think may have gifted and/or talented characteristics, you should know there are plenty of helpful gifted resources that provide advocacy and education for both gifted/talented youth and their parents. Not only can your child's school be helpful in the support and education of gifted kids, there are other organizations that may also provide a great deal of help, support and information for parents and their gifted children.
